State Department of Education must develop type 1 diabetes informational materials for parents and guardians of pupils.

School districts, county offices of education, and charter schools must make type 1 diabetes materials accessible to parents/guardians when pupils enroll in kindergarten or first grade, and again in grade 7, effective January 1, 2022.

Required materials must include description of type 1 diabetes, risk factors and warning signs, screening process recommendations, and guidance to consult medical providers after diagnosis.

State must reimburse local agencies and school districts for any costs mandated by this bill as determined by the Commission on State Mandates.
