SB 1474 - Business and Professions Summary

• Renames the "Contractors' State License Law" and "Contractors' State License Board" to remove apostrophes and consolidates the "Contractors' License Fund" and "Contractors' Deposit Fund" into a single "Contractors License Fund."

• Simplifies contractor license renewal by eliminating the requirement to demonstrate circumstances beyond licensee's control; now only requires submission of completed renewal application and fees within 90 days of expiration.

• Extends sunset dates for multiple professional licensing boards to January 1, 2022-2023, including pharmacy, psychology, nursing, barbering/cosmetology, veterinary medicine, and behavioral sciences boards.

• Prohibits contracts for consumer services from limiting customers' ability to file complaints with licensing boards or participate in investigations, with violations constituting unprofessional conduct subject to discipline.

• Makes various updates to dental hygiene, medical practice, real estate, architecture, massage therapy, and private investigator licensing requirements and procedures.
