Expands workers' compensation coverage for peace officers defined under California Penal Code Chapter 4.5 (except those in Section 830.39) to include hernia, pneumonia, heart trouble, cancer, tuberculosis, biochemical substance exposure, meningitis, and lower back impairments, with presumptions that these conditions arose from employment.

Extends the presumption period for compensable injuries to three calendar months for each full year of service, up to a maximum of 60 months (120 months for cancer) following termination of employment.

Changes reference from "security officers" to "peace officers" employed by the State Department of State Hospitals to qualify for heart trouble coverage under the same presumption provisions.

Applies expanded protections to firefighting members (volunteer, partly paid, or fully paid) from county, city, and state fire departments, as well as correctional officers and prison/jail guards employed on a regular, full-time salary basis.

Removes the bill's previous state mandate reimbursement provision, changing the designation from a state-mandated local program to one with no state mandate cost.
