Community college districts must identify students who have completed an associate degree for transfer and notify them of their completion at the end of each academic term.

Community college districts must automatically award the associate degree for transfer to eligible students and add them to a statewide identification system maintained by the Office of the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges.

The identification system must be electronically accessible to the California State University, the University of California, and independent institutions of higher education to facilitate transfer pathways.

Students may affirmatively opt out of receiving the associate degree for transfer or being included in the identification system.

Full implementation begins with the fall term of the 2020–21 academic year.
