CA SB53

Amends the definition of "state body" under the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act to include advisory boards, advisory commissions, advisory committees, advisory subcommittees, and similar multimember advisory bodies consisting of 3 or more individuals created by formal action of a state body.

Expands the definition to include any multimember body on which a state body member serves in their official capacity as a representative and that receives funding, in whole or in part, from the state body, regardless of whether it is organized and operated by the state body or a private corporation.

Changes pronoun reference from "his or her" to "their" in the statute.

Declares the bill an urgency statute that takes effect immediately to avoid unnecessary litigation and ensure public access to meetings of public bodies as guaranteed by the California Constitution.
