Proclaims January 2020 as Human Trafficking Awareness Month in California to increase awareness of human trafficking domestically and internationally.

Notes that California has one of the highest incidences of human trafficking in the nation due to its major harbors, airports, coastline, international border, economy, and immigrant population.

Identifies that 40.3 million people globally are estimated victims of human trafficking, with 81 percent trapped in forced labor, 25 percent children, and 75 percent women and girls.

Recognizes that human trafficking cases reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline have increased 842 percent in the United States since 2007, with California leading in reported cases.

Commits the Legislature to prioritizing adequate resources and services for human trafficking victims and prevention efforts.
