Establishes a 3-year pilot program in up to 6 California counties for coroners and medical examiners to collect gender identity and sexual orientation data in cases of violent death.

Requires participating counties to receive training from qualified public or private agencies with expertise in identifying and collecting sexual orientation and gender identity clinical data, including cultural competency and confidentiality protections.

Mandates coroners and medical examiners to aggregate, deidentify, and annually report collected data to the county board of supervisors and State Department of Public Health.

Requires the State Department of Public Health to include pilot program data in the California Violent Death Reporting System (CEVDRS).

Pilot program provisions become inoperative when the State Public Health Officer certifies that final year data has been submitted to CEVDRS, and the article is repealed on the following January 1.
