Requires ballots for school, county, and municipal offices (including Superintendent of Public Instruction) to display candidates' party preference or lack thereof, based on their current voter registration.

Exempts judicial offices from displaying party preference on ballots.

Defines "party preference" as the candidate's party preference designated on their current voter registration.

Requires candidates for covered nonpartisan offices to file a statement designating their party preference with the elections official by the 88th day before the election or within three days of a prior election's results declaration.

Becomes operative only if a companion constitutional amendment (ACA __ of the 2021-22 Regular Session) is approved by voters.
