AB 1699 Summary

• Adds one point to a driver's record for conviction of organized retail theft (Penal Code Section 490.4) if a vehicle was used or acquired in committing the crime.

• Adds one point to a driver's record for conviction of package theft (Penal Code Sections 484, 487, 490.1, or 490.2) if a vehicle was used or acquired and the package was stolen from a residence's curtilage or authorized apartment building depository.

• Defines "curtilage" for purposes of the package theft provision to include areas adjacent to a dwelling where home life extends, such as porches, driveways, patios, and enclosed yards.
