Requires the California State University and California Community Colleges chancellors' offices to collect data on student housing insecurity at each campus, with the University of California president's office requested to do the same.

Data collection must include number of students receiving housing assistance by demographics (gender, ethnicity, dependents, first-generation status, foster youth, homeless youth, disability status, LGBTQI+ identity), on-campus bed availability, and rental rates for dorms and apartments on and off campus.

Each segment must submit compiled reports to the Legislature and Legislative Analyst's Office on October 15, 2023, October 15, 2025, and October 15, 2027, with the Legislative Analyst's Office distributing data to relevant state departments.

The bill's intent is to improve state policy discussions on student housing, identify campuses with housing barriers, and prioritize future state funding for student housing.

All provisions expire and are repealed on January 1, 2028.
