School districts, county offices of education, and charter schools seeking state funding for modernization of school facilities built before January 1, 2012 must include faucet aerators and water-conserving plumbing fixtures in all bathrooms as part of their modernization projects.

Requirements apply only to projects submitted to the Division of the State Architect beginning 3 months after voters approve a statewide general obligation bond for school facilities at an election occurring after November 1, 2022.

Requirements apply only to modernization projects that contain existing faucets or water plumbing fixtures in the spaces being modernized or repaired and involve interior building work, not exterior-only repairs, alterations to school grounds, or playing fields.

Bathrooms that already contain both faucet aerators and water-conserving plumbing fixtures at the time of project submission are exempt from the requirements.
