Counties must ensure resource families complete CPR and first aid training or demonstrate equivalent certification within 90 days of resource family approval.

Resource family parents with current Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care professionals, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or higher CPR certification are exempt from the CPR training requirement.

Resource family parents with active and unrestricted health care professional licensure from the Department of Consumer Affairs or Emergency Medical Services Authority are exempt from the first aid training requirement.

Counties must ensure resource families obtain training to maintain current CPR and first aid certifications and submit copies of certificates prior to expiration.

No state reimbursement is required because the costs are within the scope of the 2011 Realignment Legislation funding framework.
