Requires science instruction in grades 1-6 to include emphasis on causes and effects of climate change, and methods to mitigate and adapt to climate change, with appropriate coursework offered by no later than the 2023-24 school year.

Requires science instruction in grades 7-12 to include emphasis on causes and effects of climate change, and methods to mitigate and adapt to climate change, with appropriate coursework offered by no later than the 2023-24 school year.

Removes previous requirement that at least one high school science course (commencing with the class graduating in 2027-28) must include climate change material.

Designates the bill as imposing state-mandated local program requirements on school districts.

Provides that if the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill contains state-mandated costs, reimbursement shall be made pursuant to existing statutory procedures.
