CA AB1973

Requires school districts and charter schools with 50% or more unduplicated pupil enrollment offering kindergarten to provide at least one full-day kindergarten class at each schoolsite from the 2027-28 through 2029-30 school years.

Extends the requirement to all school districts and charter schools offering kindergarten starting in the 2030-31 school year, regardless of unduplicated pupil percentage.

Mandates that the minimum kindergarten schoolday be equivalent to the minimum schoolday provided for grades 1-3.

Exempts transitional kindergarten from these requirements.

Establishes state reimbursement procedures for any costs incurred by local agencies and school districts in complying with the mandate.
