AB 2058 Summary

• Increases funding for the California Career Technical Education Incentive Grant Program from $300 million to $450 million annually beginning in the 2023–24 fiscal year.

• Reduces matching fund requirements for applicants: $1 for every $1 for regional occupational programs and county office operations, and $1.50 for every $1 for local educational agencies (previously $2 for every $1).

• Removes the cap prohibiting applicants from receiving more than the amount determined by the allocation formula.

• Establishes $12 million in annual funding (beginning 2023–24 fiscal year) for regional career technical education coordinators to provide technical assistance to local educational agencies.

• Repeals the K–12 component of the Strong Workforce Program effective July 1, 2023, transferring administration of outstanding allocations to the State Department of Education under the Career Technical Education Incentive Grant Program.
