Designates dissemination of misinformation or disinformation related to COVID-19 as unprofessional conduct for physicians and surgeons licensed in California.

Defines "misinformation" as false information contradicted by contemporary scientific consensus contrary to the standard of care, and "disinformation" as misinformation deliberately disseminated with malicious intent or intent to mislead.

Limits the scope of "disseminate" to conveyance of information from a licensed physician to a patient under the physician's care in the form of treatment or advice.

Applies to physicians and surgeons licensed by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California.

Approved by Governor on September 30, 2022, and became Chapter 938.
