CA AB2107

Authorizes a person licensed as a clinical genetic molecular biologist scientist to use molecular biology techniques to perform clinical laboratory tests or examinations for detection of any disease affecting humans.

Amends Section 1210 of the Business and Professions Code to expand the scope of practice for clinical genetic molecular biologist scientists beyond their previous limitations.

Incorporates amendments proposed by both AB 2107 and SB 1267, with Section 1.5 becoming operative only if both bills are enacted and AB 2107 is enacted after SB 1267.

Declared an urgency statute effective immediately to maintain the health care workforce necessary for COVID-19 testing if the Governor's emergency order expires or is rescinded.
