Establishes the California Pocket Forest Initiative administered by the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to promote pocket forests (small urban plots planted using the Miyawaki method of dense native plantings) in California communities.

Authorizes the department to provide grants to cities, counties, districts, nonprofit organizations, and public schools to establish pocket forests on public lands, with priority given to disadvantaged communities and areas lacking accessible green space.

Requires the department to partner with one or more academic institutions to test the Miyawaki method's effectiveness for restoring degraded lands and reforesting urban areas across multiple California regions.

Mandates the department submit a report to the Legislature by January 1, 2029, evaluating the Miyawaki method's applicability and effectiveness in California, including cost-benefit analysis, appropriate species for different regions, and recommended modifications.

Automatically repeals all provisions of this chapter on January 1, 2030.
