Division of Occupational Safety and Health must submit a rulemaking proposal to the standards board by December 1, 2025 to revise heat illness and wildfire smoke standards.

Heat illness standard revisions shall require employers to distribute Heat Illness Prevention Plans to all new employees upon hire and training, and to all employees at least once annually.

Wildfire smoke standard for farmworkers must be revised to reduce the air quality index (AQI) threshold for PM2.5 particulate matter at which respiratory protective equipment becomes mandatory to a maximum of AQI 301 or lower, as determined by the division.

Standards board must review and consider adopting the revised standards on or before December 31, 2025.

Division shall consider developing or revising regulations for additional protections related to acclimatization to higher temperatures, particularly following absences of one week or more from working in ultrahigh heat settings.
