Department of Forestry and Fire Protection must complete a statewide strategic plan to achieve a 10% increase in tree canopy cover in urban areas by 2035, with priority given to disadvantaged and low-income communities and low-canopy areas

Plan must include recommendations for state and local policies, regional targets and actions by 2030, local resources for maintenance, strategies to address threats to urban forests (climate change, disease, pests, drought), and measures to prevent net loss of existing canopy

Department must consult with nonprofit organizations, cities, counties, other local governments, and disadvantaged and low-income communities when developing the plan

Statewide strategic plan must be submitted to the Legislature on or before June 30, 2025

Section automatically repeals on June 30, 2029 pursuant to Government Code Section 10231.5
