Department of Social Services must conduct a study examining the effectiveness of CalFresh benefits for foster youth, with participation being voluntary and requiring prior consent from participants.

Study must measure health outcomes for foster youth enrolled in CalFresh, average benefit amounts provided, and number of foster youth receiving benefits by county.

"Health outcomes" includes changes in nutrition levels (dietary guideline compliance, fruit and vegetable consumption, cholesterol, BMI, blood pressure), knowledge and attitudes about nutrition, and awareness of nutrition programs.

Department must submit study results to the Senate and Assembly Committees on Human Services by January 1, 2026.

These provisions expire and are repealed on January 1, 2027.
