Requires the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training to partner with academic researchers to assess existing peace officer training requirements and determine their effectiveness in the field.

Directs the commission to adjust training mandates as needed, including reducing or eliminating ineffective training, and to continually assess new training requirements.

Establishes a permanent academic review board to regularly review and update training standards and curriculum based on the latest scientific research and advise on training outcome testing.

Requires the commission to submit a report to the Legislature by January 1, 2025, detailing its assessment of existing and new mandated training requirements.

Protects personal identifying information of peace officers and trainees collected for research purposes as confidential while allowing summary or disaggregated data to be made available to the public and research institutions.
