Extends vehicle registration fee and license fee exemptions to Purple Heart recipients and surviving spouses of Purple Heart recipients who retain special license plates, effective January 1, 2027.

Maintains existing exemptions for disabled veterans, former American prisoners of war, Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, and their surviving spouses from vehicle registration and license fees.

Limits exemptions to one vehicle per eligible person and applies to passenger vehicles, motorcycles, and commercial vehicles under 8,001 pounds unladen weight not used for hire, compensation, or profit.

Requires Purple Heart recipients applying for exemptions to provide satisfactory proof of their Purple Heart status to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Repeals current Vehicle Code Section 9105 and Revenue and Taxation Code Sections 10783 and 10783.2 on January 1, 2027, and replaces them with new sections that include Purple Heart recipients.
