Requires the California Department of Justice to establish an Office of Access to Justice by January 1, 2024 to increase meaningful access to justice for all Californians, particularly low-income and underrepresented people.

Office shall promote access to justice within the Department of Justice by advising the Attorney General on access to justice issues, coordinating with all divisions and bureaus, and identifying emerging legal issues by communicating with legal aid organizations and community groups.

Office shall establish a California Legal Aid Interagency Roundtable to convene state agencies, tribes, and legal aid nonprofits at least twice per year to facilitate strategic partnerships and incorporate legal services into state programs.

Office may provide analysis and input on civil legal aid and access to justice issues for legislative proposals pending before the Legislature.

Office shall submit annual activity reports to the Legislature by March 1, 2025 and thereafter until April 1, 2028; office activities cease January 1, 2029; entire chapter repeals January 1, 2031.
