Director of Forestry and Fire Protection may procure or establish a statewide cloud-based defensible space and home hardening platform to allow property owners to submit inspection requests and provide documentation of compliance with defensible space requirements.

Platform must include features such as live video and audio interaction between fire safety officials and property owners, remote desk inspections, multi-language support, aerial property views, automated image analytics, and centralized storage of inspection documents and imagery.

Director must establish quality control measures to ensure inspection information shared on the platform is accurate, reliable, and auditable.

Property sellers in high or very high fire hazard severity zones may use the platform to provide required documentation of defensible space compliance to buyers.

Property owners who provide false information, omit requested information, or provide misleading information on the platform are subject to civil penalties of no less than $10,000; platform costs must be funded from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
