Authorizes notaries public to correct errors on certificates under specific circumstances, including that the same notary who completed the original certificate makes the correction.

Limits corrections to certificates attached to documents affecting real property (grant deeds, mortgages, deeds of trust, quitclaim deeds, security agreements) that are to be recorded with a county recorder.

Requires the error to be created by the notary and not stem from errors in the drafted document, and requires the error to prevent the county recorder from recording the document.

Requires county recorder to submit correction requests in writing within five business days of the notarial act and provide a clearly legible copy of the original record and certificate to the notary.

Mandates notaries indicate corrections on the original journal entry, initial and date updated certificates or note when a new certificate was issued, and attach an affidavit or declaration with copies of the correction request and defective certificate to any corrected certificate.
