Requires the Department of Housing and Community Development to research and develop mandatory bicycle parking standards for multifamily residential buildings, hotels, and motels, effective with the next triennial California Green Building Standards Code update on or after January 1, 2023.

Requires the California Building Standards Commission to research and develop revised mandatory bicycle parking standards for nonresidential buildings during the same triennial update.

Mandates that bicycle parking standards be calculated independently from vehicle parking space requirements, rather than as a percentage of vehicle parking spaces.

Applies to both short-term and long-term bicycle parking in covered building types.

Approved by the Governor on September 29, 2022, and filed with the Secretary of State the same date.
