Local educational agencies serving kindergarten through grade 12 must review and update their suicide prevention policies by January 1, 2025 to incorporate best practices from the state's model policy.

Training materials for teachers must be revised by January 1, 2025 to include best practices identified in the state's model suicide prevention policy.

The State Department of Education must develop and issue resources and guidance on remote suicide awareness and prevention training to local educational agencies by June 1, 2024.

Local educational agencies are encouraged to provide suicide awareness and prevention training to teachers starting with the 2024-25 school year.

If the Commission on State Mandates determines this bill creates state-mandated costs, reimbursement shall be made pursuant to Government Code Part 7.
