State Fire Marshal must establish training standards for peer-to-peer suicide prevention curriculum content recommended by the Statewide Training and Education Advisory Committee.

State Fire Marshal shall coordinate with the California Firefighter Joint Apprenticeship Program to develop and deliver the suicide prevention curriculum for paid firefighters assigned to field duties.

Emergency Medical Services Authority must distribute the peer-to-peer suicide prevention curriculum criteria to each local EMS agency, which must then make it available to emergency medical services employers in their jurisdictions.

Paid emergency medical services responders are authorized to receive training consistent with the curriculum content criteria.

Implementation is contingent upon legislative appropriation in the annual Budget Act or another statute, with reimbursement to local agencies for state-mandated costs made pursuant to existing statutory procedures.
