Recognizes that tourism generated over $144 billion in visitor spending in 2019 and supported 1.2 million jobs as a major economic driver for the state.

Notes that the COVID-19 pandemic caused a $79.8 billion decline in visitor spending in 2020 (55 percent drop) and resulted in nearly one million job losses in travel and hospitality sectors.

Highlights that California's major tourism gateway cities—Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Orange County—were particularly hard hit by the downturn in international visitors and convention business.

Directs the Chief Clerk of the Assembly to transmit copies of the resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
