Proclaims August 24, 2022, as Ukrainian Independence Day in California to commemorate the 31st anniversary of Ukraine's declaration of independence on August 24, 1991.

Recognizes Ukraine's struggle to achieve and maintain independence, its distinct culture and language, and the role of Ukrainian Americans in contributing to American society over the past 100+ years.

Condemns Russia's 2014 aggression against Ukraine (seizure of Crimea and arming of breakaway territories) and the February 24, 2022 invasion, including documented war crimes targeting civilians.

Affirms California's support for Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and right to self-determination while honoring the sacrifices of Ukraine's Armed Forces.

Requests all California citizens join in commemorating Ukrainian Independence Day and directs the Chief Clerk to distribute copies of the resolution.
