Establishes the Geologic Carbon Sequestration Group within the California Geological Survey to provide independent expertise and regulatory guidance to the State Air Resources Board on carbon sequestration matters.

The Group's duties include identifying suitable locations for Class VI injection wells, identifying appropriate subsurface monitoring for geologic sequestration of injected carbon dioxide, and identifying hazards that may require suspension of carbon dioxide injections.

Adds Section 2212 to the Public Resources Code to formalize the Group's creation and define its responsibilities related to carbon dioxide storage and sequestration.
