Authorizes the Regents of the University of California to expend appropriated funds to secure an acute care teaching hospital in Riverside County through acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, lease, management, or operating agreement.

Teaching hospital will serve as an academic medical center to train UC Riverside School of Medicine medical students, residents, and fellows.

Legislative findings note inland southern California has only 35 primary care physicians per 100,000 patients versus the recommended 60-80 per 100,000, with a shortfall of 1,500 primary care physicians.

UC Riverside School of Medicine opened in 2013 as the first new public medical school in California in over 40 years and is committed to expanding physician workforce diversity and serving underserved populations.

Budget Act of 2021 appropriated $10,000,000 in one-time funding to initiate the process of securing the teaching hospital.
