CA SB1279

Adds "person who lacks legal capacity to make decisions" to the list of persons for whom a court may appoint a guardian ad litem under Probate Code Section 1003.

Requires proposed guardians ad litem to disclose to the court and all parties any known actual or potential conflicts of interest and any familial or affiliate relationships with parties before appointment.

Requires notice and a copy of guardian ad litem applications to be provided to any existing guardian or conservator of the estate, who has 5 court days to file an opposition.

Requires the application to disclose the existence of an existing guardian or conservator and explain why they are inadequate to represent the person's interests.

Requires guardians ad litem to promptly disclose to the court any conflicts of interest that arise or change after appointment.
