Commission on Teacher Credentialing and State Department of Education must develop a survey by July 1, 2023 to collect data from teachers resigning or declining teaching assignments, including whether they are exiting the profession entirely

Local educational agencies are encouraged to administer the survey within 15 days of a teacher resigning or declining a teaching assignment, beginning with the 2023-24 school year

Commission and department may use existing resources, including the California School Climate, Health, and Learning Survey, when developing the new survey

Commission must compile annual reports from survey data submitted by local educational agencies and submit reports to the Legislature and post on its website, contingent upon legislative appropriation of funds

Legislative intent is for survey data to inform future statewide investments in teacher recruitment and retention efforts
