CA SB205

Requires certificated and classified school employees, and academic and classified community college employees, to receive their full salary during a 5-month period of absence due to illness or accident after exhausting all available sick leave.

Repeals Section 44983 (for school employees) and Section 87786 (for community college employees) that previously allowed districts to provide only 50% or more of regular salary during extended illness absences.

Modifies parental leave provisions to clarify that school districts must elect to provide either differential pay (based on substitute employee salary) or a minimum 50% salary compensation during the 12-workweek parental leave period.

Makes conforming changes to related sections including updates to parental leave rules for both school and community college employees, and adjustments to industrial accident and illness leave provisions.

Updates pronouns and references throughout the Education Code for consistency and clarity regarding employee leave benefits.
