Community college districts and California State University trustees must provide educational information about opioid overdose and opioid overdose reversal medication (naloxone) as part of campus orientations, in collaboration with recovery advocacy organizations.

Community college districts and California State University trustees must require campus health centers to apply for use of the statewide standing order issued by the State Public Health Officer to distribute federally approved opioid overdose reversal medication.

Campus health centers must apply to participate in the Naloxone Distribution Project administered by the State Department of Health Care Services and distribute naloxone obtained through the project upon approval.

The University of California Regents are requested, but not required, to comply with the same educational and medication distribution requirements.

If the Commission on State Mandates determines this bill imposes state-mandated costs on local agencies, reimbursement shall be made pursuant to existing statutory procedures.
