Requires health care service plan contracts and health insurance policies issued, amended, or renewed on or after January 1, 2022, to cover adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) screenings if they provide pediatric services and preventive care.

Defines "adverse childhood experiences" as events or circumstances experienced as physically or emotionally harmful that have lasting adverse effects on an individual's functioning and physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well-being.

Authorizes the Department of Managed Health Care and Department of Insurance to adopt guidance implementing ACEs coverage, with minimum requirements based on Medi-Cal program trauma screening rules.

Permits health care service plans and health insurers to apply cost-sharing requirements and exceed Medi-Cal program standards for ACEs screening coverage.

Exempts the state from reimbursing local agencies or school districts because compliance costs result from creation of new criminal violations under the Knox-Keene Health Care Service Plan Act.
