State Department of Education must convene a workgroup including school transportation stakeholders, providers, labor organizations, legislators, and advocates to develop safety standards recommendations for drivers of unaccompanied minors to school.

Workgroup membership includes representatives from the School Facilities and Transportation Services Division, Assembly, Senate, Department of Finance, labor organizations, private transportation agencies, local educational agencies, disability advocates, foster youth advocates, homeless youth advocates, and parent organizations.

Department must submit workgroup recommendations to appropriate legislative budget and policy committees on or before April 1, 2023.

The section establishing this workgroup repeals on January 1, 2024.
