CA SB900

Ratifies tribal-state gaming compacts between California and the Santa Rosa Indian Community of the Santa Rosa Rancheria and the Middletown Rancheria of Pomo Indians of California, both executed on March 24, 2022.

Exempts the execution of these compacts, amendments to these compacts, and related intergovernmental agreements with counties, cities, and state agencies from California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requirements in deference to tribal sovereignty.

Exempts on-reservation impacts of compliance with the ratified gaming compacts from CEQA requirements, while preserving CEQA obligations for cities, counties, and state agencies for actions not expressly authorized by the compacts.

Repeals obsolete provisions related to prior compact ratifications between the two tribes and California.

Takes effect immediately as an urgency statute necessary for economic development and stability of the affected tribes.
