State Department of Education must develop type 1 diabetes informational materials for parents and guardians and make them available through the department's internet website

School districts, county offices of education, and charter schools must provide these materials to parents or guardians when a pupil first enrolls in elementary school or with information provided under Section 48980, effective January 1, 2023

Materials must include descriptions of type 1 diabetes, risk factors and warning signs, screening processes, and recommendations to consult primary care providers for symptom evaluation and post-diagnosis treatment planning

Bill creates a state-mandated local program; reimbursement for any state-mandated costs shall be made pursuant to Government Code Part 7 if the Commission on State Mandates determines costs exist
