Designates August 8, 2022, as Essential State Workers Day in California.

Recognizes essential state workers across multiple SEIU units (1, 3, 4, 11, 14, 15, 17, 20, and 21) representing approximately 93,700 employees who took a 9 percent pay cut during the pandemic.

Acknowledges workers including nurses, teachers, librarians, IT professionals, custodians, and food service workers who provided critical services to maintain state operations and public safety.

Honors workers who risked COVID-19 exposure while providing medical care in state hospitals, prisons, and healthcare facilities, and those who worked extended hours to support unemployment benefits and other essential services.
