Notes that more than 100 million Americans live with chronic pain, yet most pain remains untreated, undertreated, or improperly treated due to healthcare professional knowledge gaps.

Highlights that women have higher prevalence of chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia and complex regional pain syndrome, but their pain reports are taken less seriously and receive less aggressive treatment than men's.

Recognizes Partners for Understanding Pain, a California-based coalition, whose mission is to improve quality of life for people experiencing pain through education and advocacy.
