Requires grades 1-6 social sciences instruction to include the Spanish colonization of California and Gold Rush Era, with emphasis on the treatment and perspectives of Native Americans during those periods.

Requires grades 7-12 social sciences instruction to include the treatment and perspectives of Native Americans during Spanish colonization of California or Gold Rush Era, to the extent either period is taught.

Directs the Instructional Quality Commission to consider including content on Native American treatment and perspectives during Spanish colonization and Gold Rush periods when revising the history-social science curriculum framework or adopting new instructional materials after January 1, 2025, in consultation with California tribes.

Requires consideration of the Mendez v. Westminster School District case in evaluation criteria for new instructional materials adopted on or after January 1, 2025.

Constitutes a state-mandated local program; requires reimbursement to local agencies and school districts for costs if determined by the Commission on State Mandates.
