Requires corn masa flour manufactured or sold in California to contain 0.7 milligrams of folic acid per pound of product, effective January 1, 2026.

Allows wet corn masa products to optionally contain 0.4 milligrams of folic acid per pound of end product, effective January 1, 2026.

Requires corn masa flour and wet corn masa products to declare folic acid content on nutrition labels in accordance with federal law and identify the product as containing corn masa flour or being made through wet corn masa manufacturing.

Exempts cottage food operations, certain food facilities, grocery stores that also sell fortified products, and snack foods from the folic acid requirement.

Aims to reduce neural tube birth defects in Latino communities, where such defects occur at disproportionately higher rates.
