Community college districts and California State University must notify students by email each semester about the presence and location of opioid overdose reversal medication and that residential advisors and house managers have received overdose prevention training.

All on-campus students must receive training on how to use opioid overdose reversal medication during orientation each academic semester or term.

Campus health centers must distribute 2 doses of federally approved opioid overdose reversal medication at the start of each semester to student housing facilities and fraternity/sorority houses, maintained in accessible lockable emergency-breakable boxes or designated locations.

Residential advisors and house managers must receive opioid overdose prevention and treatment training and inform students of their training and medication access.

No disciplinary action may be imposed for drug possession, use, or treatment violations that occur at or near the time an overdose reversal medication is administered by a residential advisor, house manager, or resident.
