Maintains existing authority for courts to issue restraining orders based on reasonable proof of past abuse and solely on the affidavit or testimony of the requesting person.

Confirms that ex parte restraining orders cannot be denied solely because the opposing party was not provided notice.

Applies to ex parte requests for protective orders as defined in Family Code Section 6218, including orders that restrain threatening, harassment, or peace disturbance and exclude parties from residences.
