School districts and charter schools must adopt plans by January 1, 2026, to offer at least one computer science course per high school, with escalating requirements reaching all high schools by the 2028-29 school year.

Plans must include strategies to increase computer science enrollment among female students, students with disabilities, students from underrepresented ethnic and racial groups, and low-income students.

The California Department of Education must develop a computer science implementation guide by July 1, 2025, including course options, credentialing pathways, funding sources, best practices, and curriculum resources.

The State Department of Education must publicly report computer science enrollment data disaggregated by gender, race/ethnicity, special education status, English learner status, and socioeconomic status beginning June 30, 2027, and annually thereafter.

School districts and charter schools must review and report on their implementation progress annually at public meetings until all schools offer computer science courses.
