Voids contracts entered on or after January 1, 2025 for dog or cat sales brokered by a broker to California buyers if the contract requires a nonrefundable deposit or fails to identify the original source of the animal.

Requires brokers to disclose the original source of the dog or cat and prohibits nonrefundable deposits in contracts with California buyers.

Mandates sellers refund all money within 30 days of notice that a contract is void under this section.

Authorizes courts to enjoin violators and allows harmed buyers to bring civil actions with entitlement to reasonable attorney's fees and costs.

Exempts contracts for service animals and police dogs from these requirements.
