Requires high school coaches to complete training in recognizing and responding to cardiac arrest signs and symptoms by July 1, 2024, as part of the California High School Coaching Education and Training Program.

Adds certification in the use of automated external defibrillators (AED) to required coach training, with CPR and AED certification to follow national evidence-based emergency cardiovascular care guidelines.

Requires school districts and charter schools offering interscholastic athletics to include in their written emergency action plans a description of how procedures for handling sudden cardiac arrest and other medical emergencies will be rehearsed, by July 1, 2024.

Maintains existing requirements for coaches to receive training in CPR, first aid, concussion recognition, and heat illness management.
